Friday

It's Friday (August 1st) and we've got a LONG day ahead of us. I had the alarm set for 6am, but I was wide awake at 4:22am. UGH!!!! I was getting Karl Urban's autograph this morning. Luckily, Deb and I saw on Thursday that they were preselling autographs tickets for Karl. We each got one. He was signing in the vendors room, starting around 9:30am. I was down waiting to get in the vendors room at 8:15. The vendors room was running late on opening. But once in, I headed straight for the back table that he was going to be signing at; only to find out that they were lining people up on the outside of the vendors room, on the side I couldn't see. It was a little confusing, because the program said that he would be taking money at his table, so people just got in line, then those people were being told that they need to buy a ticket at a table down the hall. They did this for Scott Bakula as well.

He started pretty much on time. Once inside the door, we could stare at him again, oh darn, what's a girl to do. When I got up there I apologized if I squeezed him, he smile. Then I said to him; "My friends on Facebook want me to put you in my luggage and bring you home; but I don't think your wife would like that'. He laughed and I thanked him. The girl behind me was almost hyperventilating standing in line at the anticipation of being close to him. She did fine once she got up to him. Deb and Rob had a photo op or two that they were getting during this time.

I think this is when I started to head over to the DeForest Kelley Theatre to hear Don Stark, Natalija Nogulich, Mark Allen Sheppard, Lee Arenberg and it was being hosted by Richard Arnold. I saw that the Cariacturist was setting up, so I get in her line, instead. It takes her about 8 to 11 minutes a person and I was the sixth person in line. I knew that was my best chance to get one, as her line grows throughout the day. She did a fabulous job! Then I sat in on the last part of the panel.

I made my way to the main theater, which is the Gene and Majel Roddenberry Theatre. I caught the last part of John Paladin making over a young lady into a Klingon. He did the same thing at the Chicago Convention. Very cool!! Up after him was the DS9 Panel: Colm, James, Rene, Nana, Jeffery, Terry and Hana. This was Hana's first convention and she is all grown up. They all play off each other so well and know how to keep the crowd entertained.

The funny and fabulous DS9 cast.

Then it's straight over the the DeForest Kelley Theatre for a panel of: Catherine Hicks, Daniel Davis and John Schuck. It had already started, but Deb and I still got great seats. I think Rob was changing clothes. This was one of my favorite panels, gotta love Niles and Star Trek IV is my favorite of the movies. Catherine Hicks still looks the same, GREAT!

Favorite guest stars!.

We now have a nice long break till Rod and Trevor were due in the Roddenberry theatre, so we finished up some things in the vendors room and then went up stairs for lunch and to rest. We headed back down by 2:30 to catch Rod and Trevor talk about Roddenberry Adventures and a couple of projects they are working on. At the end, Rod brought out his wife Heidi and his little boy Zale Eugene Roddenberry. Rod missed the 2013 convention as his wife was giving birth to Zale; August 6th. Cute little guy!!!!

The adventure continues here.

I had another small break, so I went upstairs and primped for my photo with Rod and then got everything I needed for the autograph session and the Journey concert. Yes, that's right a Journey concert!! Journey just happen to be playing on the one night we didn't have any plans, except for the autographs. I was back down by about 4:45pm. I caught the last part of Adam Malin interviewing Ron Jones. Ron was helping out with the Nevada Pops and was also going to be a guest conductor.

Now it's time for the Classic Ladies of Star Trek: Sally, Celeste, Barb and Tania. Then the Favorite Guest Stars panel: Robin, Hallie, Jerry, Gwynyth and Suzie. I had to leave their panel early for my photo op with Rod. When it was my turn Rod looked at me and said "I know you" and kissed me on the cheek. Well, that made this ladies night. After that was the big autograph session. It was supposed to start at 6:30, but alas, it didn't start till almost 7pm.

I knew that we were going to miss Tower of Power and some of Steve Miller, but was hoping to be there for the meet and greet with Jon. Autographs are called row by row, we were in row E; I was hoping 60 to 75 minutes. By the time they got to our row; Rob went to Rene's line (Rene's a talker) and Deb and I went to the ladies. We (im)patiently waited our turn in line. We gauged by the other lines as who was fast and who the talkers were. Suzie was first and I needed her autograph. Gwynyth and Hana were fast; Robin somewhat of a talker and Hallie a big talker. We ended up just skipping Hallie all together. After Rob got done with Rene; he ran a bunch of the stuff up to thier room, Deb and I were just waiting for Robin.

As soon as we got done and then pulled everything together, Deb and I headed towards the cab line; Rob was going to meet us there. It's now 8:30pm. As we were hoofing it out of the convention we ran into Chris (who was walking towards the convention), said "like slow down ladies". We said "Can't we're late for the Journey concert." He said "Well then, run." After Rob got down to the cab line (luckily there was no line), we grabbed a cab and headed to Mandalay Bay; at least we didn't have to worry about concert traffic. Once at the Event Center; we had to figure out where it was. I was a bit turned around as I had never been in that part of the hotel before. We final weaved our way around to the box office and got my envelope. I was a happy camper with the tickets and passes, plus the photo pass I asked for. WooHoo!!!

Once inside the venue, we did the normal thing and headed to catering. We totally missed the meet and greet, but they were still serving dinner and we were starved; so we ate. We did see the last part of the Steve Miller Band. I photographed the 1st three songs and then went back to my seat. Jon and the guys did a fabulous job, as always. Afterwards, we went back to the catering room as I was hoping Jon might pop in, but alas they had to go. So, no seeing Jon :(((((. The cab line at Mandalay Bay was long, and took about 20 minutes to get up front. It was about 1 am when we got back to the hotel and 2 am before I hit the bed. See what I meant by a LONG day!! You can check out the photos that I took of Jon and Journey
